We are excited to announce that Carrie Nelson; aka Miss Rosie’s Quilt Company, Modafabrics (Instagram and Blog); will be coming to the Quilted Moose and Minglewood Lodge, January 26 & January 27, 2018. She will be teaching workshops on how to bake a Moda Cake Mix and Layer Cake packages into a quilt.
What is a Moda Cake Mix? It’s a recipe for block parts that makes baking a Layer Cake quilt easier than ever. This unique triangle paper is designed to work in conjunction with Moda’s 10″ square Layer Cakes. Each tablet has 42 sheets – one for each layer in a Layer Cake – and a couple of extras for practice.
There are 8 different Moda Cake Mix recipes. Each cake mix will make a unique set of blocks for a quilt.
Depending on the size and flavor of your desired cake, you can mix 2 matching or different Layer Cakes®; or 1 print Layer Cake® and 1 Bella Solid Layer Cake®; or 1 print Layer Cake® and 3⅛ yards of background fabric. Bigger cakes are easily done with more Cake Mix® papers and Layer Cakes®.
Workshops will take place at Minglewood Lodge from 9:30a-4P on Friday and Saturday. You can attend one or both days depending on your schedule. Each day you can work on a different Moda Cake Mix or spend both days working with the same Moda Cake Mix. One Moda Cake Mix packet will be included with your class fee for each day. Class fee for each day is $99.00; and, of course, lunch is included each day.
We will have Moda layer cakes available in various fabric lines before and at the class. We plan to make use of Jen Kingwell’s new Lollies fabric line for a unique layer cake.
But you aren’t limited to baking a full size cake, you can also make Cupcakes using the Moda Cupcake Mixes and Moda Charm Packs.
We always have a wonderful time when Carrie is at Minglewood. We are planning on some prizes and drawings for each day.
Clear your schedule and join us for two days of fun and laughter with Carrie. Give us a call to reserve your spot…402.332.4178. Stop by to pick out your fabric layer cake and your Moda Cake Mix for class.
