Greetings Moose Friends,
This is the weekend for Spring Quilt Market in Salt Lake City, Utah. Mr. Moose and I left early Thursday morning to begin my search for new and exciting ideas and products to bring back to the Quilted Moose. (Mr. Moose is hoping for good golfing weather.) Thursday afternoon I plan to attend several schoolhouse sessions to see what is new. The remaining days I will be strolling the aisles to talk with designers and be on the lookout for new ideas to ‘Moose It Up’.
We will be bringing Michelle Yeo back with us on Sunday night. Michelle is a pattern and fabric designer from Australia. She will be teaching her machine paper piecing class on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 24&25 at Minglewood Lodge. If you are interested in learning her technique we do have several spots available for both days. Give the Quilted Moose a call for more details.
This week we’ve been working around our yard, cleaning up the flower beds, pruning shrubs, getting it ready for a mulch delivery when we return from Market. Mr. Moose has been busy tilling and planting his garden. With the amount of rain we’ve received lately and the warmer days this week everything is looking so lush and green.
Block 3 of ‘From Louise’s Garden’ is very appropriate for this time of year. It’s title is Picket Fence and I can imagine my Grandma Louise in her garden surrounded by a picket fence. She would be planting all those vegetables needed later in the summer for canning.
Finished Block 4-1/2″
Cutting for one block:
from background #1 cut 1 | 3-1/4″ square
from background #2 cut 2 | 2″ squares
from medium cut 1 | 3-1/4″ square
from dark cut 2 | 1-1/4″ x 2-3/4″ rectangles
from dark cut 2 | 1-1/4″ x 2″ rectangles
Using the 1 background 3-1/4″ square and the 1 medium 3-1/4″ square, make 2 half-square triangles units. Square these units to 2/3/4″ square.
Using the photo for placement, stitch block units together.
