It has been a busy week for everyone at the Quilted Moose! Mr. Moose and I attended Quilt Market in Salt Lake City, Utah and returned very late Sunday night. Michelle Yeo of Michelle Yeo Quilt Designs from Melbourne, Australia, also returned with us. She taught two days of workshops teaching us how to machine piece her amazing designs with her freezer paper method. One part of her wonderful method is that you do not have the messy job of removing the paper from the backside of the quilt after stitching. The students that attended produced some wonderful blocks! You need to take a look at my Instagram feed to see some of the beautiful blocks that were created.
Some of you know that I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE college baseball. So, I am also trying to attend some of the Big 10 Tournament games that are being played this week in Omaha; weather permitting! And the amount of rain and crazy storms we’ve been having here are really messing with the tourney schedule.
Finished Block 4-1/2″
Cutting for one block:
from light background cut 1 | 2″ square
from light background cut 4 | 1-1/4″ x 2″ rectangles
from medium cut 1 | 2-3/4″ square
from dark #1 cut 4| 1-5/8″ squares
from dark #2 cut 4 | 2″ squares
Using the 1 medium square and the 4 dark #1 squares make 4 flying geese units using the no-waste flying geese method, these units should measure 1-1/4″ x 2″ unfinished.
Using the photo for placement, stitch block units together.
I hope that you have a safe and enjoyable Memorial Weekend.
