I wanted to let you know that there are still some seats available on Friday, October 20 and/or Saturday, October 21st for personal instruction from Jen Kingwell.
Over the past several years Jen has become a popular international quilt artist, fabric designer and instructor. She has a unique talent for combining an eclectic mixture of fabrics into her quilts. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn Jen’s techniques for choosing fabrics and combining them into a unique project.
Jen’s specialty is hand work. She does hand piecing and hand quilting for her projects. But, her methods easily transfer to machine piecing and our workshops are available in either method. If you have been wanting to try hand piecing this would be a wonderful opportunity to learn a new technique. Jen will also be demonstrating ‘big stitch’ hand quilting. If you are looking for a ‘portable’ project and weren’t sure how to get started here is the chance to have all your questions answered.
If you follow the newest trends in the quilting world you may have noticed more quilt designers introducing acrylic templates for their quilt projects. Jen will be featuring four new “Tempter” block designs using her acrylic templates and she will provide you with tips and tricks for using them.
Have you heard about Delilah? This is Jen’s TOM/BOM (template/block of the month) quilt program that the Quilted Moose is providing for our customers. (Check previous Quilted Moose blog posts for monthly updates on the progress of Delilah.) As a quilt designer, I can tell you from experience; selecting fabrics for one of Jen’s projects is a fun learning experience. As you study her quilts and choose your fabrics for one of her designs you will discover that she has a controlled method for her scrappiness and color. If you are currently participating in Delilah; do you have some questions that you would like to ask the designer? Here’s you chance.
We will also be kicking off our new Block of the Month (BOM) while Jen is here. Drum roll please……Baker’s Dozen. The acrylic templates for this project are on order and should be available for the kickoff of this new Block of the Month. It is definitely a unique opportunity to have the designer, from Australia, no less; available to visit with us about this particular quilt and how she developed this design for you!
Here are the details for the two days of workshops:
On Friday, October 20, Jen will be providing personal instruction for her new line of template designs; Tempters. The four new Tempters designs are Drops of Jupiter, Shadow Moon, Gem Star and Utah. Each of these four designs have the acrylic templates included.

Saturday, October 21, will be a “You Pick the Project” workshop. There are so many options that you can choose from for this workshop on Saturday. You can pick one of the new template block designs from Friday, start our Baker’s Dozen BOM, work on Delilah if you are in the current TOM/BOM with us, continue with the project you started on Friday, or bring a Jen project you are already working on. Jen will be providing instruction, tips and hints for any of her projects.
