Last year many of you participated in our 52 Week Quilt Block Challenge. Our challenge blocks were 6″ Cake Stand blocks and we also directed you to A Needle Pulling Thread Quilt Shop in Digby, Nova Scotia, to stitch along with them on their Flock of Geese challenge.
This year I am challenging all of you to the Quilted Moose 52 Week Quilt Block Challenge for 2018. Weekly we will be making a Double Nine Patch block that will finish at 9″ square.
Most of you know that I absolutely adore small blocks. Here is a chance for you to use some of your small fabric scraps. For this weekly challenge you will construct 5 3″ finished square nine patch blocks that will be sewn along with 4 alternate fabric squares into a Double Nine Patch 9″ finished quilt block. Sound like fun?!
Here are the instructions for the construction of the weekly block: Double Nine Patch 52 week
I will show you my design for setting these blocks into a quilt at the end of this 52 week challenge.
To help you with the weekly commitment of making your blocks; I propose that you pick a specific day of the week to cut and sew your blocks. I’m sure that you have read…it takes 21 times doing a certain task to create a habit. So, half-way through the challenge you will have established a creative habit; and, you will be well on your way to completing your challenge quilt. A win-win!
I will post my Double Nine Patch blocks on social media; ie. Instagram & Facebook; each week to provide inspiration and motivation for you to continue with the weekly challenge.
If you post your blocks to any social media outlet be sure to use the following hashtags: @quiltedmoose, #52weekquiltblockchallenge, #mooseitup, #quiltedmoose, #doubleninepatch.
Let the stitching begin! Stop by the Quilted Moose to show us what you are doing!
