Are you ready for a challenge?
Last spring at Quilt Market I was asked by Jennifer Keltner, CVO of Martingale Publishing, to participate in a book of red and white/cream quilt designs. Jennifer’s vision was a book full of gorgeous red and white quilts, photographed in beautiful settings, designed by a varied group of quilt designers.
With the excitement of the release of the book, I thought it would be fun to issue a challenge to our customers. Join us in making a red and white quilt by October 1, 2018 to be hung in a show at our Minglewood Lodge.
The design may be your own original design or a pattern by another. We have only a few requirements for this challenge:
Rule #1 – The fabrics in the quilt must be red and white and/or red and cream/tan (no other) colors.
Rule #2 – Your quilt must be a finished quilt; ie quilted with binding attached.
Rule #3 – Include a label on the back of the quilt with the name of the quilt and your name.
That’s it! Pretty simple.
Here’s your chance to construct/design a quilt and “Moose It Up” with additional features you may have been wanting to ‘play with’ for some time. You may want to pick a pattern from your favorite quilt designer and then use various red and white/cream fabrics from your stash in the construction. If you love appliqué you may want to add that feature to your quilt design. This is your chance to ‘show off’ your designing and piecing skills. We are looking for beginners to accomplished quilters. Don’t be shy. The ‘quilt police’ will not be attending this quilt reveal!
We are in the process of planning a ‘reveal’ party/show in November for the release of the book. We love a partee’. As we plan this ‘reveal’ we will continue to update you on the specifics.
If you need lucious reds and creams. We have them! Minick and Simpson released “Farmhouse Reds” from MODA fabrics. These fabrics are some of my favorites. Come in and have a look.
Give us a call if you have any questions about the quilt challenge; 402.332.4178. The rules are simple. The quilt reveal party/show will be fun!
